The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

yay! my sis got my comp all up and working - i got tired watching her install drivers - really owe her a treat this time ^_^ now i just have to get my files back and all will be right with the world!
Monday, December 30
i do believe the last time i had such a headache was when i moved house a year and a half ago - you know, the kind that tunnels into the hard-to-reach sectors of the grey matter you never knew you had, but you are simply too brain-dead to feel the pain. Just got back from Sim Lim after gotting the casing (and all its innards) and the moniter and speakers - what a bloody nightmare! And then setting them up, eating precious real estate on my desk (my mom won't let me put the tower on the floor...), getting a running nose from the dust, and hunting down and filling up the warranty cards -
...ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming...with luck, the next posting here will be from my very own comp! yay!~

The Sim Lim Adventure
wah! almost killed myself doing the price comparision for the various components - price comparison for a cd-burner is fun, but it's absolutely crazy when you do it for like ten items! All the info was in tables and the font size was like 5! In the end, we got everything but the motherboard from Costronics who also assembled for us. We are kinda relieved really, tho' we kinda planned to assemble ourselves, but really not completely confident one....when they said no cosair memory, we finally gave up and bought kingston instead - really really too tired to go hunting again. And i found a purple keyboard! its a little small, but...purple!!!
but now all my library books catching up on me, plus haven't started transcribing yet! argh!!! *sigh* looks like no hope for reading CLAMP's Lawful Drug anytime soon....*looks woefully at her manga*

You are a Technologist. You may not have any magic --but you either don't want or need it. Whether you are a spear-throwing Barbarian, an Imperial Mechanist or even a humble Tailor you build what you need, rely on your own strength and follow your own path. You are happy doing your own thing and thinking your own way. You are extremely self-reliant and have a hard time trusting others.

I'm just watching a bad dream I'd never wake up from.
Find out what anime bad boy you are.
Sakurazuka Seishirou
Calm, composed, apathetic, with impecible taste, you are the Sakurazukamori. You tend to be generally calm and composed, and never let things get to you, or if they do, show no trace of it on your face. You're true to your word, and have a nasty habit of hurting the people you care about. But you don't care, because you "can't". Right?

""Which cocktail are you?""

| I am the Coquette The ability to delay satisfaction is the ultimate art of seduction - while waiting, the victim is held in thrall. Coquettes are the grand masters of the game, orchestrating a back-and-forth movement between hope and frustration. They bait with the promise of reward - the hope of physical pleasure, happiness, fame by association, power - all of which, however, proves elusive; yet this only makes their targets pursue them more. Imitate the alternating heat and coolness of the Coquette and you will keep the seduced at your heels. Symbol: The Shadow. It cannot be grasped. Chase your shadow and it will flee; turn your back on it and it will follow you. It is also a person's dark side, the thing that makes them mysterious. After they have given us pleasure, the shadow of withdrawl makes us yearn for their return, much as clouds make us yearn for the sun. |

Mild Two Towers spoilers!
just watched Two Towers!...and i got another date tomorrow to see it again, heheh - it's got one of the best handled battle scenes i've seen - it never get boring. And the Gimli scenes are side-bustingly hilarious - could have sworn he wasn't so comic relief in the book. Opening of movie gots an A from me!
I feel the saddest for Gollum - i think out of all the characters, Smeagol when his good side re-discovered its strength, was the most innocent character in the whole show. Even Frodo or Pippin was never that innocent. Me dun like Faramir - he so mean to Smeagol and Frodo. The audience would definitely take away a heavier feeling than in the first movie - there's the frodo prob, and the new developments between Aragorn and Arwen (that was well-done too! - Jackson spaced so you'll never tell that Argorn said that to Arwen before he left Rivendell - keeps up the developement of the overall story well...) And Elrond's words/prediction to Arwen just brings the consequences of her choice so very well into focus - takes all the love-dovey rose-coloured specs off - very nice addition to the story! That Gandalf scene where he is kinda foggy over his past identity - done wonderfully! His words gave you the feeling that yah, this is not all Gandalf anymore.
Aiyah! And the most impt! More Legolas! Legolas happy, sad, angry, funny, skateboarding (he does that, keep your eyes peeled), and those blades! But i think Arargorn stood out much more in this movie. And Eowyn! That scene with the blade, very very cool, girl!
The Frodo scenes i didn't like, because they were so well done, me feel very sad for Frodo, make me depressed...

just got back from the Miyuki Cosplay! It was so cool! - lots of costumes and interesting programmes. Sewed until 4am last night to complete the Xelloss costume, and it was worth it, because a number of people decided to come up to tell me they like the costume! Adeline shameless happy ^_^ but there were tonnes more great costumes at the cosplay - in terms of detailed costumes, the ones i remember most are Alucard (Castlevania), Epyon (Gundam Wing), Chii (Chobits), but also lots more i can't remember. More cosplay teams as well - more planning went into their coordination of costumes, and also into their dance routines/programmes. Me want the vcd! Can't wait for the pics to fo online, heheh. will update with a link when i get them.
Even non-anime cosplayers showed up! And they were great! - Hermione and Malfoy, i remember the most, plus a Slytherin Seeker! A few Jedi and padewans. And a guy dressed in black robes from head to toes, you won't know he is until you see the Eye of Sauron he's toting around ^_^

should have kept my mouth shut, they realy are death rattles, and now reduced to salvaging my files but by agonising bit thru DOS and a measly 1.44 floppy. *sob* sorrie if i'm slow on replying to any email...i'm a little bit distracted gnawing on my liver...but if Claire Fraser can survive early America, I can surive a small hard disk crash *puffs out chest*
Monday, December 16
Booyaka! I managed to snag Diana Gabaldon's The Fiery Cross for just $2.50! It's her fifth book in the Claire Fraser epic. They're my idols - Gabaldon for for writing this magnificent epic and Claire Fraser for her strength, level-headedness and sarcastic wit.
More encounters with the Century Square fly population today...
My library books are catching up with me, now have to read them or else have to return and will not see them until March, geh!
Thinking of an update for Violet Haze but think the Pretear one still looks better, hmm....
My hand disk keeps accessing and accessing and it slows down my comp - I liken them to death rattles, and so am evacuating stuff asap to my sis's comp...

gah! know any good anti-angst medication? I accidentally got a huge does of angst while reading a fic, ugh....
yay! have finished my experiments! All my readers are wunderful~~~ kind souls, thank you! Though now i gotta nice big mountain to transcibe, urk!
today, something weird happened to me - really weird! - I was eating with my dad at a food center, when i observed this fly on the wall, just slightly above eye-level. I tell you, it was doing the Century Square Fly Macarena! It kinda rubbed it two front legs together (like washing it's hands) and occassionally the "mouth" appears. Then it lifts its left back leg and scratches just under its left wing/left side. And it repeated this routine at least four times! I was like"Wow!" Or maybe the fly was trying to communicate what a bozo I am for being engrossed by a fly on the wall, kinda like how bees fly in the number 8 figure....maybe...
........Huh? No, the experiments weren't traumatic....What?! No, I'm not hallucinating......I really saw the fly!....hey~!....come back!....
Thursday, December 12
geh! my hard disk hicupped and went into Scandisk mode - needless to say, me immediately backed-up all my thesis stuff - but my anime stuff is exceedingly vulnerable cos my laptop's too slow for my cd-burner (it has now become my sister's cd-burner, heh). won't it be ironic if soon after i have reinstalled my network card, my hard disk crashes and i'll have to get it re-reinstalled? *touch wood!*
Wednesday, December 11
yes! me is connected again! went to com cen to reinstall the network card - i tell you, the feller there really used some hocus-pocus to get the network card right again, switching between windows to install and reinstall....
all my library book fines catching up with me....
saw die another day recently - all i can say is that it is LOUD! and the sexual innuendos were all over the place. But the villians have more substance this time round, ne, and the plot is pretty good too! i feel it is of a different level than the usual Bond flick - kinda darker because of what you know happened in the beginning of the movie. Bigger toys too - i think they have the Slayers syndrome - the explosions just get bigger and bigger until they are using satelites now. What next? blowing up the planet? Like the invisible car - its like you've equipped the car with just about everything - why not make it invisible too? heh....loved the sword and kodachi fight, damn! i mean, the guy's fight was all barbaric and breaking things, but the ladies' fight was more skill and speed...
ok, lost the otah craving now...and probably for the next six months too, ugh...
Monday, December 9
Have not been writing much cos i screwed up the driver for my network card.
half way thru the experiments now - am soooo not looking forward to transcribing...but have gotten pretty hot material to work with - hopefully my 486 brain can process it...
Tampines got pasar malam! And I got an otah craving....
Wednesday, December 4
Gotten some great stuff to analyse from today's experiment, but some things got screwed up (and then got resolved somehow), I'm probably a biiii~g joke to someone out there....on the other hand, it could have been worse, so i'm grateful.....Eck! Just read what i wrote and i realised i'm back on the emotional roller-coaster again...
Listening to LFO's Every Other Time - realised the girlfriend in the song pretty evil huh? Breaking up at the prom, then telling their friends he's gay? But he still likes her, and it seems like it's just one of her idiosyncracies, Awwww ~~~
Current update: Invictus! - except with a relatively lighter and not quite so rebellious tone.
Monday, December 2
I have got to be the dumb~est usability tester in the world - but luckily for pilot experiments, i found out in time that AS7 comps had no audio output, so scurried off to AS4 to borrow some speakers. The lady there is really nice and friendly...or was it my grovelling kwai act at work, heh? Nothing like a good ole pilot test to squash our pride in organization like a cockroach~~~
Current update: White hairs accummulating ...
