The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

Full Metal Alchemist Episode 28 - 29

Wow...lots more cool-ness coming. FMA actually has a whole philosophy of life and death!

That gate thing was interesting. With that kind of a smile, that boy with the lost memory looks like one of the black imps on the other side of the gate - maybe the one who bit of Ed's arm even.

Am dying to find out why a Homunculous is born....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had this whole rant planned out but the panoptic cynic is me warned me to be wary and so this is all there is to this. I won't want to remember it anyway.

I really like what I am doing - don't really care even if I have to do lots and lots of it - but the protocol just screws me over everytime. It seems I can't do stuff like that right, even when I ask and confirm. *sigh* Very tired...

Full Metal Alchemist marathon! - nothing cracks me up better!

Episode 25

Wah!!!! So sad! Damn! That's a good way to execute a sad ending for an ep! And that ghostly sighting! So much meaning to it! Makes me wanna burst out crying!!! And that only Ed saw him kinda cements Ed's place as the lead, the more fey brother.

Episode 26

Yea! Just like shisho to be fiercer than Mustang when she is just irritated and he is coldly angry...

Wow, forget the Elric brothers, the Sins or even the the Elric-shisho - Winry is the most scary! Though I do feel she read too much into things herself....*getting Ed/Winry tinglies from FMA*

Ahahahahah! Young Pinako!!! How did she morph from that babe to that tiny old lady? And she kept the pipe!

Oh, I see. *Sigh* How could I forget that automail is Winry's first love?

Wha, looks like we gonna see a new Mustang soon - heading to the top not only means leaving things behind, but even leaving the old self behind. Wonder what would happen if he loses Hawkeye?

Hmm, that's new, the attempts of a childhood friend who wants to use her expertise to make things normal again for her friends - it just means that they'd never need to look for their bodies back. New angle, ya?

I'm gonna bet that new ending is going to help Winry to major character status soon...

Episode 27

Oh no! She couldn't recognise Al! Which is kinda hysterically funny in one way and awfully tragic in another....

Hmmm, farewell gift...his chess pieces...how apt...

Pwah, his teacher just as sensitive about her age as Edward is about his height! And when she glares, she look just like Mustang's long-lost older twin sister, really!

Wah, their teacher is really cool ne? Totally fulfilling my expectations that she is FMA's version of a Jedi - except more violent, of cos. She throws them around quite a bit - but that seems to be humour. But disciplining them is kinda like the a good teacher making sure her students don't stray kinda thing.

That hug felt like 26 episodes in the making. She is the only other maternal figure with whom the Elric bros have spent quite a few years of their lives. As though finally telling her is like a huge weight of their chests, prodigal sons come home kinda thing - even Lt Ross couldn't take her place because they didn't know her.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Life has been up and down like a roller coaster - now at least I am too freaking busy to be depressed. Today was tops - so many things coming at me I had to stop thinking for a few minutes because if I didn't my brain would just shut down...lists, lists, lists are my friends! On the other hand, this project is what I have been trained for! It's just the kind of thing I want to help out in, so I really shouldn't be complaining. I just need to get more organised and efficient, there's just so much at once!

Naruto Episode 78

whah! very cute and interesting new opening....

Heheh, forgot all about the Thousand years of Pain move....doesn't that make Kakashi look like a real pervert?...i mean, more than he already is?

Sasuke real drama queen - kinda wicked of me to see him building up a nice pre-suicide speech and then Naruto comes along, makes his own speech, and totally steals his thunder...no wonder Sasuke got jealous of him later...

Argh! Monster-Gaara looking like spilt pudding lying on the ground....

Heheh, Gaara sounded like a gundam starting up for a while there....

Damn, that froggie's got some good-looking moves....

"He's pretty funky" - hahahahahahahaha!

Ewww...that pretty gross, considering it could be raining frog saliva....or frog stomach jucies...

Naruto 210 - 212

Heheh, Drunken Boxing...

No wonder everyone's been praising the latest chapters. The Sand siblings have a make-over! Or is it because they are in mourning for the recent death of their Kazekage? For once the increase in possible duels don't bore me...

Hmmm, "Allies of the Leaf" - could they be looking for revenge against Orochimaru over how he betrayed them during the Chuuin Exam battle?

Heh, haven't done this for too long. Swiped from May-Ann's blog. Hope it is ok to link?

There are two possibilities: you are a Star Wars geek, or you are unreasoningly scary.

Which Weird Latin Phrase Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Things have been a bit rough lately - with my first quiet crying jag onsite - was so scared someone would pop by my cube and see, but luckily not. Am so tired of watching out for things that I am not supposed to do, mostly because I try really hard to avoid stuff like that, making sure to confirm instructions before passing them along. But somehow it still bounces back at me, my suggestions get blown out of proportion until it seems like I am stubbornly slowing the whole project down. I feel like throwing in the towel and just kicking back and let others worry, but that's not the right attitude surely?

But what I just couldn't stand is how I get snapped at harshly, when I haven't even completed my sentance. I can sense the irritation and sometimes, the real anger, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. I feel like the worst is always being thought of me in any circumstances. I always speak politely and behave like I am open to feedback, but so far it has happened four times and no sign of that person telling me what is wrong. I tried all I can think of (except asking directly what is wrong because I'm afraid it would mean an accusing telling-off) and can only conclude that I have yet to prove my capability. Or maybe I am doing too much that it feel like I am showing off? Can you be too enthusiastic at your tasks?

Anyways, have resolved to draw the lines of reponsibilities more clearly so that in future there are less misunderstandings. It is sad but despite your best intentions, don't do extra stuff because it can get you in soup. But in the past few weeks, can't seem to get rid of the cobwebs of depression, it just sticks in my mind that something is wrong with a major part of my daily life and it is already bogging down my current and future actions. Hope things settle soon. Will try my best to separate these two sides of my life so that my personal time won't be affected too much. Luckily have many movies and animes waiting to help me, heh.

This is a anime/manga post:

Get Backers 24 - pwah, Raitei is back! Emishi as funny as ever.

Koucha Ouji 22 - I KNEW IT! Darjeeling and Alisha were in love until that evil Gopal and the other Tea Princes split them up!~ But why was Ceylon's dad so bad? The plot seems to be moving along speedily, with Taiko, Assam and Darjeeling all warped into Tea-land, Gopal showing his evil face, and Taiko facing the danger of aging prematurely. And the fact that two of the wishes Assam is giving is already used up. Somehow I guess the remaining wishes are gonna be put to very plot-ful use. Wonder if my prediction about Assam actually being Darjeeling's son will be true? The ending had better be a happy one or I'll scream.

Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai - this is one for the guys, this opinion being formed only after two episodes. Am considering not followinf it if not for the promise of angst - Hikari is almost certainly harbouring an evil consciousness inside that probably even she doesn't know about. Can see the angst miles away, with Takeo (sp?)'s cousin actually liking him and Hikari's too-innocent personality.

Kenran Butoh Sai: The Mars Daybreak and Kyou Kara Maou have the few eps on disk for a rainy day, heh.

Just got back from watching Starsky and Hutch - nearly split my sides laughing at some of the corny humour. The two actors really have chemistry and they really bring the characters to life. The part where it got really too much was when Starsky was recalling the two of them running along the beach wearing identical T-shirts with "Starsky and Hutch" in rainbow-coloured letters. My brain just flipped. But the humour is good, some of it pretty subtle and some displayed with an accompanying sense of style that brings a whole new feel to the two-detectives-as-new-partners type of movie. Some of the other characters were funny as well - like Huggy Bear and his knowledgeable aides.

Also got a good look at the movie ads and here are some on my to-watch list
- Troy - Orlando Bloom with eyeliner, really! It seem Paris is just slated to be the handsome prince whose romantic entanglements got all these macho fighters involved. And it seems Brad Pitt (Achilles) has a gf in the movie as well. But what I am really looking out for (besides the many-many-ships scene, which I am sure my friends are sick and tired of hearing me gush about) is the many many soldiers scene. And finally got a glimpse of the Trojan Horse!

- 50 Days - it's got cruelty to animals, as Adam Sandler not only got his best friend beaten up by Drew Barrymore, he even roped in his penguin friend (in the cutest widdle red T-shirt!) and almost got the poor bird run over when Barrymore's character failed to stop her car! This movie seems guaranteed to have you rolling on the floor in laughter.

- Van Helsing - didn't get enuff of Kate Beckinsdale in Underworld? Well, here she is again in the thick of the monster-extermination business. Am actually in it for the monsters and special effects. Feel that Jackman's accent sticks out like a sore thumb (Vat hah-ppened zu ees Lohmayniaan ackcent?)

Tampines Mall also has this huge Monopoly national championship - and I do mean huge. They have a gigantic monopoly sheet pasted on the ground, with A3 cards and big cardboard silver play-pieces. Each player has an assistant in red to help pass the rent and two footsoldiers circle the board to hep move the silver pieces to their proper boxes after each dice toss. even the cute little green and red homes have been blown up to big lunchbox-sized cardboard houses. Saw some stiff competition going on, with one guy managing to win no less than 16 properties. He was really on a roll.

Kyyyaaaa! I don't care how stressful and all-round shitty the past few days have been - most of the bad vibes went away when my eyes alighted Jan Siegel's Prospero's Children at the rental bookstore at Clementi MRT station! Have been waiting forever to read her first book - and it starts out nice too - an old story with enough magic to bewitch and enough tragedy befitting of an ancient tale. Then on the way home, picked up book 9 of Mo Di against my better instinct because wanted to read more of how powerful and insanely childish the "hero" can be.

Have discovered to my delight - i seemed to have developed a nice shell (i.e. an imperviousness) to some of the small annoyances that come with working life - be it a result of personality clashes or simple miscommunication. Am slowly but surely picking up some protocol - there's a problem, I raise it but if nothing gets done, I have learnt not to berate myself too much. And always always inform - be it of details or whereabouts. It may seem really small but I guess even such things are necessary for the running of the organisation. Have also learnt not to expect others to treat you nice because you go out of your way for them. Also don't be surprised at some surly responses if you are the bearer of "work to do." Sad but once you learn it, you'd be happier. Hope I can remember that and not stress out too much in future.

Monday, April 5

There's this telephone booth along the pavement that I walk to get home. In the day it is pretty quiet. But when evening comes, it starts ringing off the hook. It's a bit of a shock to be walking along a dark road and suddenly the sounds of the phone ringing catches your attention. But what intrigues me the most is - if I life the receiver to my ear, would I get sucked out of the matrix?

A bit of a stressful day - nothing nasty, just stressful from having to worry about things and thinking hard.

Am downloading Angel's Egg now - heard it is a pretty arty kinda of anime - 75 mins and the script was only long enuff for one and a half screen of text. But the reviews kept emphasising that the anime is something to be experienced, not comprehended, so many times, I got curious against my better instincts.

Sunday, April 4

ahhhhhhhh!!!!!! *shock* I found a white hair in my fringe! I never get white hairs in my fringe!

Finally watched the last three eps for Peace Maker Kurogane. Suzu finally snapped after seeing Tetsu walk away from his sensei's corpse (Tetsu didn't deliver the killing stroke by the way, it's just the angst-machine at work), talking to himself and carting his sensei's head around. "Sensei...your arm is missing..." *shiver* Am confused by Yoshida treating Suzu so nice and then turning around and becoming such a monster. Plus he doesn't remember Tetsu so maybe he wasn't the murderer after all, and Hijitaka does look awfully like him ya? Phew, none of the really impt people die since the revolution isn't for some years yet. Though have heard that only Saitou and Shinpachi survive the changes of eras - the rest died along the way. Sure hope there'll be a second season, but it could get only more depressing. Though the idea of an insane Suzu is most intriguing.

Poor Suzu's fate always seems to be the opposite of Tetsu - or harsher? Although that is hard to say too. Both of them are servants to cool swordmen/politicians, and both lost family. Yet Suzu lost everyone while Tetsu has his brother and the Shinsengumi at least. Yet Yoshida seems really nice to Suzu, and it is a possiblity that Hijitaka killed Tetsu's parents - so which sensei/master is more cruel? The two masters can be equally gentle and ruthless.

The final showdown was really cool (and bloody - but at an acceptable level) - there was a 360 degree perspective that moved around the rooms where the raid took place. Souji was doing some really cool backflips, Tetsu too (though his size made him move like Yoda...kinda fly-like). The scene when Tetsu's face suddenly matured (he looked even older than Shinpachi!) was well-done I think, because it made him really look like the 'demon' he wanted to become.

Watched 75 and 76 of Naruto too! Wah~~~ poor Gaara! With his cute widdle sad voice....Dug out Kodomo no Omocha (Christmas episode!) and had fun laughing at the 10-sec countdown to how long Hayama could stand the tense atmosphere of deciding what to buy Sana as a birthday/Christmas present.

Still saving Full Metal Alchemist eps for a rainy day.

Dragging my feet on the Melaka photo-site *sigh* Well, Monday and next week will be a super busy day. Bet I'll go for my friend's weding dinner (which is this coming Sunday) and wonder where the week went to.

More dream memories - Keanus Reeves, the phrase "And he isn't just a Martian, but a Dark Martian" I think my lame brain was for a kakkoi effect which seemed to work well when you are in dream-land. And for some illogical reason, packing people into suitcases, and cheering when I succeeded in getting everyone into the suitcases.
