The Hobbies
Just watched Dragon Tiger Gate. Besides the obvious lure of Nicholas Tse in torn scruffed-up jeans – movies, glitzy kungfu ones especially, are my choice de-stressors, you only need to sit back and admire the forms. However, it is a miracle that they can see through all that hair! (Which is the only way you can tell that they are brothers). Read FiRST mag’s review too – though I agree with their sentiment that Donnie Yen really deserves to take his place with the kungfu celebs, somehow he just doesn’t seem to really sink into his character. Though the Turbo dealing out Golden Mask scene is pretty cool, and all three guys looks fantabulous in jeans, heheh.
Fulfilled a long-cherished wish when I finally bought two sets of calligraphy nibs last week – sincerely hope I find the time to try them out…must get inky! The jewel-toned ones I’ve been treasuring for years have turned an icky plasticky opaque colour *sigh*
With Othori Kyouya of Ouran High School Host Club (as with Brad Crawford of Weiss Kreuz, Eriol Hiiragizawa of CCS and Oshitari Yuushi of PoT) have realized I will always prefer the scheming dark-haired bespectacled types over the lovable golden princes and knights of the world. *smirk*
The Work
Assisted in a READ! Singapore 2006 book discussion at UCC today – saw two very different ways the discussion could be run – the first is by facilitators who keep with the discussion. The second is through a charismatic author/speaker who through the sharing of his experience is enough to keep the participants absorbed. But both ways required a facilitator familiar with the material/book to keep the discussion running. Got to drink creamy cappuccino too – I’m sure it’s very nice, but the experience has confirmed that I am not a coffee drinker.
Have been involved in a very interesting project at work – made me think seriously if my career is going the way I’ve hoped always hoped (but never really knew).
Realise I like working in my new team – not the first time I’ve said it – but I'm finally feel like being in a group of people striving towards a common goal.
Streams on Cobblestones
The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

Got the privilege visit an old 3-storey Peranakan house today, due for restoration in the next two months. Thanks to my colleague whose enthusiasm and wonder with the project is so contagious, the beautiful panelling and intricate in-built cupboards doors seemed like new to me. Then we got to the backyard, which all in all is quite normal to most, overgrown with tall slender trees, slumped around on packed brown earth. But then I got looked up and got the worst shutter-fingercramps in a looong time. The angle of a wall's corner and the overshadowing tree leaves hovering freshly just above the grey water pipes, with fat raindrops each falling at the the spur of the moment. And bats - grey furries! Zooming screechily right front of you, as though measure your location and intent.
Had a most fun time at the Cosfest this year at Pasir Ris NTUC Lifestyle Resorts - however, the place was sooo packed, I cringed at having to navigate the crowds, camera in hand, and decided to just go with buying gorgeous artwork. Am now considering buying a file with one of those clear covers into which I can insert the artwork, usually A4 in size.
Gonna watch PIRATES! this Friday. Wish me luck till then cos I am soo drowning in work. But how not to have fun at a job which involves bats, sterile cockroaches, composing corny workshop names, etc...I am quite sure I can have fun if I am determined to...
