Streams on Cobblestones
The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

saw this way~ cool Discovery documentary on Civilisations and how this chinese professor got together a mit prof on structures and a timber expert to re-create a bridge that is supposed to be made like the sung dynasty's rainbow bridge. the last one rotted away because it was wood. but they rebuilt another one in a chinese village and the shows's all about the troubles they encountered, and how they eventually got it done. what i was watching out for was how the people from the various background interacted.
transcribing - - - Yay! i'm finally done with my first reader (tho' the final edit's not done yet) and into the first 8 min of my second reader. Current count: 133 min of and estimated 750 min. Yosh! damn near killed myself uploading my site files to brinkster - coolconnect attached a cookie code to every page and i had to get rid of them. Wormed out incorrect urls. And my laptop's legacy after its death was to change all my .html files to .htm files. So i changed them back, or else the urls won't link right. Then i realised i changed a website's files from .htm to .html, when they were supposed to be .htm. You know, uploading always gives me time enuff to ponder on the meaning of life...but i'm hungry now, so rawrr!
today's lesson very the chim...kinda scary because the guy sounds really professional, and we gotta design a real website for him...wah~
between the appointments are this modules, and the project meetings/deadlines for the CS module, it'd be a wonder if i ever get the transcribing done! hope i don't focus too much on these modules, i have a tendency to focus more on structured tasks...

wai wai! watched The Cat Returns with my anime club friends today at Lido. Take back all I said about Studio Ghibli - altho' slightly short, i really liked the whimsical feel of the anime - its one of those that don't fit in with what i usually watch but it won me over anyway! Only down side is that the subtitling could have been better, but its really funny! And it feels like an Alice in Wonderland thing, with lots of interesting and funny creatures (well, mostly cats) but they had such funny and intriguing personalities! It also feels magical, especially the part about the shop display of the Cat Business Office, and the long winding route to reach it. Moo...sorrie, Muta is so funny! Like the part when Haru though he died in a huge jug of catnip jelly, heheh. If the stuff about Miyazaki doing Howl's Moving Castle is true, i'll probably be one of the first in line...

OMG! I just spent two hours transcribing 20 minutes of video! Ahhhh! And the scary thing is that the first 13 minutes was total silence! Somebody just shoot me, I'm gonna croak before all of this is over anyway.....i'll just hole up in my room forever....
Dad: Where's Ah Ling?
Mom: She's in her room transcribing her thesis thing
Dad: *complains* But I don't see my daughter anymore ~
.....aww nvm, i think I'll just get over this with the ultimate painkiller (no, not manga though it comes close) - chocolate!
Heh, but i finally got to read vol 2 of Lawful Drug and now I'm addicted...Rikuou has such...knee-weakening eyes and smirks *lecherous grin*

wai! finally got to read volume one of CLAMP's Lawful Drug! - its like a mixture of the mystery of Wish, the "whiteness" of Card Captor Sakura and the movie-clip atmosphere of Clover. Actually the spookiness of the story is a little like Petshop of Horrors - except Petshop is more spooky...Lawful Drug also has a tendency to show flashbacks - like the two partners go out on a mission - but then run into trouble - the story then jumps to after the danger is over and they are back safe at headquarters. Love the art, and the feel of the story seems pretty good to me - plus all the bishies look very nice, heheh...and the book is simply beautiful - transclucent first page, and a few colour pages in front. Gonna find a book cover tomorrow....
pretty words later...for some reason blogger doesn't allow my nested tables so i had to pick a pre-set template and modify from there, ack!...but it worked, heh
geh, gave up around 3am, fell into bed and stayed there until 11am this morning, some "marathon"....anyways, now working on a graphic-less layout using tables....presently looking for nice bits of words to "decorate" it....i am leaning strongly towards a poem or a song, my calendar for Jan is already decorated with a quote that goes:
"One day, when Quatre had had waaaaaaay too much caffeine, he built a gundam named Wing Zero and tried to blow up the universe! Of course when the rush wore off, Quatre apologies profusely - To Trowa, who he had shot with a beam cannon, and to Heero, whose self-destruction/mad giggling routine he had stolen."
The quote's from this way cool Gundam Wing site called Counting for Lunatics - unfortunately it's down now...
