It's alive!!! It's alive!!!

My Naruto download is moving again! Wai!!! ^__^

Just watched ep 22 of D.N Angel - it's sad that it took only 3 hrs thru bittorrent and my naruto download is still at 55% since yesterday. *sigh* Anyways, this is only the second ep I've seen but as I watched, my eyebrows kept getting higher and higher...

Ack! Dark sounds like Ayame from FruBa and Daisuke sounds like a girl! Altho' it is realistic cos his voice sounds like it is just about to break...And Anime!Daisuke doesn't look as fluffy-cute as Manga!Daisuke. He looks...older! *sniff*

Looks like they really changed the story in the anime - since when did Risa end up in the painting? It seems like Risa's personality became dimmer than Riku too. Hmm, maybe the anime is rooting for a Dark/Risa ending. It also seems to be less funny than the manga - or maybe it is just that one episode...

Expected Emiko to have reddish hair like her son but it is a nice touch having Satoshi's foster dad making his contribution to the evil smirkiness that's going on...

On the other hand, the art is really nice and smooth, and the music is pretty suited to the story as well. And the Satoshi coolness is still present, yay!

Bittorrent is so slow but am paranoid about leaving my comp on with no one at home.

Once, when I was still staying at Chai Chee, a flat on the seventeen(?) floor caught fire due to an electrical fault. Those living below said they heard a loud explosion. Everyone banged on everyone else's door to ensure their neightbours have evacuated. Spilling down to the ground floor, we saw the thick choking smoke rising up from the balcony. It seemed that there was no one at home at the time and everyone felt sympathy for our absent neighbour - imagine coming home to find everything burnt to ash. Everyday, when I got back from school, between the MRT station and my flat, I can still see the blackened balcony bricks.

================================================

Have finished the mystery novel - a bit sad that it seems a simple elimination process solution - not even serious clues that could point to who is the serial killer. And the stories now seem to be very focused on female victims - a lot of the language is about how women are victimised, which gets boring after a while - I want bad guys who are bad not because they are insane or pathetic jerks, but because they are scheming and greedy. Like that evil villaness who came after Dallas for putting her in jail. But at some point, the police will always lay a plot, and the offender will always walk into it like the dumb idiots they are. Naruto and Guu influences probably, raising my plot expectations. I think the strain of writing each novel to stand alone is starting to show after 17 books - notice how the author, after everytime Roarke first appears in each book, she is obliged write about his Celtic/cobalt/blue eyes? How many times can you read about the same stuff?! But on the other hand, yay! Peabody made detective!

================================================

have gotten ICQ! Made the alert Sakura's "Hoe?" because using all my other cute wav files, I would go deaf (I listen to my mp3s with headphone at full volume) after a long ICQ conversation. Tried Xel's "Sore wa himitsu desu" but it was strangely....irritating. Am still looking though - remember someone once used Heero's "Omae o korusu", heheh.

Went to my club's anime screening - saw old friends and ex-comm members. Funny, but spent so much time chatting anime stuff that I didn't go watch the screening at all, which was okay because i've seen the series before. Also did an anime survey for a girl fron Singapore Poly - it's nice to see some inter-connectedness between clubs and fans, etc....

Gotten the new J.D Robb mystery - Jack the Ripper copycat this time...not that I mind, but the plots are starting to be repetitive, and the prose too - but I guess its inevitable since the series has about 17 books already...

PotC movie date with my club friends! Johnny Depp pirates! *bounces*

Maki
Maki - "Truly Rare"

What would your Japanese name be? (female)
brought to you by Quizilla

flitched this from Zhijia's blog, ohohoho! *waves*

And have finally been enlightened on Kakashi's kakkoi-ness! (There's only so many less-than-beautiful ninjas you can see before succumbing to the brainwashing...) Okay, okay, the scene which caught me was the one at start of Chunin Exam War where old one-eye rescues Sakura with two rather brutally placed kunai. Whoa! And Gekkou has an Anbu girlfriend! Who'd da thunk?

just read the online scanlations for vols 16-21 - wah~~~! Sasuke's gonna become another Orochimaru! or at least come pretty damn close! Felt his turning was pretty well-handled and psychological...wah! Naruto's finally shaping up an the hero of the manga! I think the busted water tank scene was the first cool scene he had - the others before were pretty expected.

Having a lot of fun with Naruto manga. Can't comment on the art since I am an art idiot - but i do feel the art and scenes creates a very interesting world. The characters are so cute! Esp Naruto! (tho' he is a bit grimy...) and chibi Gaara is also very cute! Gosh, Sasuke has the makings of a jerk, if he chooses to be one (see vol. 20) I am of the opinion that Kakashi is considered the bishonen of the series because the rest simply cannot make it! Heheh...Sure would like to know more about Yondaime and his relationsip to Naruto - I would bet the house they are father/son. Everything just really adds up! It would also make the Neji/Naruto match really ironic because they were going on and on about bloodlines...Overall, very interesting characters, plot development and they don't have the usual battle quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals predictable matches. Unexpected things keep popping up....and it's sooo funny! and sweet! and I am rambling so I'll stop now, heheh....

...but Naruto is sooo cute! Esp that hospital scene when Sasuke first wakes up! Poor Naruto. Damn, if I dont wish that one day he'll wake up and notice Hinata. Heh. Read a great fic on that...

Okay, now that that's out of my system...

Saturday, August 23

went to watch the semi-finals with my dad - wow! much easier for me cause they had only two courts - but some really good play. Saw how a game could be completely turned around like the one with Carmilla Martin. Saw the difference between how the Asians and Europeans play. But the one that impressed me the most was the last match of men's doubles between Malaysia and Denmark - the Danes winning despite a tough game and the fact that 70% of the audience was cheering on the Malaysians. Very very loud match too.

Lestat. You really are the brat prince. Even in
questions that are lacking, your arrogance
shines through. Good for you.

The Princess Bride
I'm sure it's no big surprise to you that your
romance is The Princess Bride. A heartwarming
tale of "Twue Wuve" that has giants,
Spainards and swashbuckling. You really do
think that love can overcome anything. You may
be a touch naive but your heart is certainly in
the right place. You've probably got one of
those relationships where proper nouns have
been replaced with "Snookums" and
"Pookie Pie". Eww. Beware a cuteness
overload.

Errr...dunno about the gritty manliness part...but Seifer!!! Wai!!! Altho'...what's up with those scary eyelashes?!

*sigh* dreaming about a houseful of ghosts this time *shiver* am considering not sleeping...

just watched the end of the Amazing Race! Wah! - but can't help wondering if there was a bit of editing going on to make the race seem closer than it really is...

went with my dad to watch a few hours of that Yonex/Sunrise Badminton tournament - it was pretty interesting but with four courts of bandminton going on at the same time, my circuits fried preety soon and I got really bored because I was trying to concentrate on too much stuff at once. But there were some high points like how desperately the Singapore fans cheered - even when the other country's players merely made an error but the home side didn't get a score...

Don't you think Naruto manga has way of always ending at a cliffhanger? Arrghhh!

Thursday, August 21

Had two dreams today - the first one involved me nearly leaping off a high building and the second one was much much worse. Have learnt not to catnap in the afternoon - I almost always wake up with a Gundam stomping on my brain. Even Naruto manga isn't helping. Ugh.

Just watched Forrest Gump - waahhhhh~~~! So saaaadd~~~! *sniff*

Wednesday, August 20

Ad on drowning Vaugh triggered Alias obsession, help.

Well, actually, it started with the ep on how SD-6 got taken over by this slimeball who almost triggers tonnes of C4 in the basement and how Sydney and Vaugh save the day! Was awed by how the series takes a one hour episode and makes it more exciting than a movie. Have been catching random episodes, hopefully can watch the whole series from the beginning.

Tuesday, August 19

Wah! Stressful interview today which turned out to be a writing test. The first question was a 500-900 word essay using the materials provided. The second was an editing exercise and the last was an essay using internet research. Which would be a breeze if only I wasn't requested to do so on a cute little Apple computer running a Mac OS >__< Could feel all my little editing tricks flying away from my fingertips as I clumsily learnt how to switch between windows. Couldn't even do a word count without asking for help. And IE and Netscape alternates between crashing and not showing me half the stuff on the webpages, arrghh!

The guy there was quite nice though - I got the feeling that I was delaying him from knocking off but he assured me I could take my time and even gave me a clearer idea on what I needed to do.

On the up side, I
==> got 4 hours to a Mac OS - half the time I was freaking out cause I couldn't do stuff and the other half I was having the time of my trying out stuff in Mac.

==> learnt all about Frank Lloyd Wright, his life story (the guys had THREE wives!) and his contribution to the American architectural landscape through his perception of a geometirc order which tasks the architect with shaping form so that it effectively shapes the landscape to enhance the grandeur of the building. Got to the part about "form from function" and felt right at home ^__^

==> experienced a black-out - luckily I saved even in a foreign OS.

==> heard a designer's woes on how a recalcitrant customer's choice of colours

==> one employee chewing out another - but it was all laughter and giggles later

Came back to Tampines and de-stressed with Naruto 3 + 4 (they didn't have vol 2, grr...) and KFC. Naruto is pretty cute - he's got that bratty, unloved poor orphan thing that Hanamichi and Shindou Hikaru have going on for them...well, maybe not Hikaru. Maybe it's cause I have a little sister so I don't know what it is like to have a bratty younger brother, heh.

Monday, August 18

eh, so proud! spent the entire day in front of the comp and never once thought of buy Naruto Vol 2 ^__^ .. though now that I have though about it...

Naruto reminds me of two people
- Cid from FF7 - he really really reminds me of Cid - all the way down to the hair, clothes and goggles. Both of them have whiskers too!
- Principle Naru-Naru from Kodomo no Omocha

Volume 1 is pretty touching - our protagonist reminds me of Hanamichi in a way, and from certain angles Sasuke looks like that guy with the funny nose in Slayers. Sincerely hoping there will be more Internal Sakura/External Sakura.

Am very angry now, have been for quite some time actually.

And the dumb thing is that I know I'm being very immature and not strong, all the stuff that I dislike. I shouldn't be angry, but I just am because it changes my perspective on things, makes me face stuff I don't want to.

I'm also angry because I can feel it making me harder inside, sullen and cold like concrete and glass. I can feel my face hardening and wonder how I'll look like in twenty years.

You ought to do this, why don't you do that? Again and again and again. I try to think (I know) you say all that because you are worried for me (and lots of people don't even have that) or that you are worried yourself and you need someone to talk to but it all just makes me feel like walking out the room, or locking the door or doing everything you want and (I often picture this) sealing myself up in this hard black pillar of silence.

You think I want things like this?! I'm trying - probably not hard enough, but it makes me feel worse because I know all the pressure is just going to increase tomorrow and more the day after. Wasn't that one-side information-sharing a perfect example? I kept my mouth shut - I learnt a long time ago nothing gets accomplished and it is better to pack all that immature bitterness away and just be silent. Every sentance and every worry that fall like rocks upon my shoulders, I simply acknowledge. They will stay there and all the whining in the world won't move them.

I want to be strong and mature, I want to be confident and it makes me sick to know I am not.

==============================================================

Wow. I guess it's true that people write better when they are in the grip of strong emotions. Cathartic, though I'm still iffy on whether it helped.

Weirdoh dream.

I think I must be too worried about my interview for asst editor because I dreamt of a huge adventure - with explosions and lotsa bogey bad guys.

Remember being in a room when an explosion occurred outside it. Dream me was holding the door close (for some reason it stayed closed) while ordering two other bogey bad guys (who somehow became not bad guys) to start taking apart a cart with steel rods to make into a fireman's pole so we could slide down to safety. Discovered the slide down was pretty short (because I was already aware I was dreaming, so taking leaps of faith don't bother me) but before we could slide down, the explosion occurred and somehow I was holding the door close again. It was almost as if the explosions were sentient, and deliberately focused on the door where it knew people were hiding behind. The door bent at the corners and there was a rosy glare edging in from the other side. The crazy thing is that it turned out to be exploding tau huay which slide through under the door. Dream me was pretty excited and encouraged her/his partners to try some. I didn't know one could taste in dreams but it really did tastle like tau huay, though a bit mushed.

The next scene was that before we could try more of the tau huay, we discovered that a row of mounted machine guns on the deep green stream opposite the windows of our room. They activated upon sensing open windows. We discovered that they shot harpoons as well. Things became kinda like a video game, as Dream me started yelling at one of the bad-not-so-bad guys to get down and not be a target, while opening windows to catch the ropes attached to the harpoons. The aim was to get enough ropes and yank the whole row of machine guns into the river. Neat huh? Soldiers started apearing next to the machine guns but they got yanked into the river as well. Yay! The danger over, more poeple came into the room and the place became a sort of office with tables and ringing phones. Everyone congratulated me and my supervisor-type of person handed me the phone to talk to my boss.

I remember at the end the voice at the end of the phone - presumably the boss editor telling me to write linguistically and rattling off all sorts of other instructions and details like who is writing the dialogue (and someone next to me agreeing that he is slightly contradictory when writing about the effects of radiation) while I was trying desperately to get all the details so i could do this assignment well. However, I found to my frustration that I would put down the phone for a while to write and pick it up again to find hat the editor had kept talking all the while.

Lots of other stuff as well like one cene where a sacrificial guy-type jumped off a capsized boat. It looked like he croaked but when his girlfriend came rushing up- it turned out not be an execution but a test of sorts - the guy was actually hiding under the boat.

Lots more other stuff but i forgot them liao - I put it all down to too much LXG, Naruto, pre-interview jitters, and that yesterday I had actually wanted to check out the publications of the firm I am being interviewed at so I can find out more about them. I pictured myself at Border, jotting down details from the publications.

My head hurts from all the explosions.

Food now.

Sunday, August 17

Watched LXG a second time with friends today - longest reel of tickets I've ever seen. Stuff.

1) Mina (Peta Wilson) - Hot! Hotter the second time ^___^
2) "I'm complicated" - Dorian Grey = consummate egoist and immortal prick with all the cool lines, dammit!
3) Was whooping internally - yay Hyde got chance!~
4) Freaking big ship! (And is it true what they say about guys and their cars?)
5) Yay! Nemo rocks! (The fish too.) He's got (the only) cool convertible in the era, a Freaking Big Ship, and he not only kicks butt personally, he's got a whole shipload of lackeys to kick butt for him! But dude, do something about the beard and give Grey and Sawyer a run for their money man!
6) Award for Dumbest Foot Soldier - the retard who swallows a whole pitcher of the elixir when the ugly ugly end result is staring him in the face. *sigh*
7) Skinner - saddest guy in the whole show. He can get as much screen time as he wants but he'll still have end up having the least screen time. And that burning stuff! What's the point of being invisible if that happens to you! Now he has absolutely no reason to want to be visible ever!
8) Between meeting with Skinner at the snowy cave and the Final Battle, Mina found the time to visit Nemo's hairdresser to get a perm ^_^
9) Hyde versus Himself on a Bad Day - only one example of disregard for the laws of physics in the movie
10) Screen: The next era belong to you, son *slump*
Adeline: *pointing* Hey, he's still breathing!
11) I wish a hand popped up out of that grave - but I bet the producers cut that scene out so they didn't have to deal with how the dumb the League members would look like if they all came sprinting back and exclaiming "Allen, you're back!" and Mina eyeballing Quartermain.

===========================================

Waaaaaahhhhh! I'll never get to read Twin Signal manga ever! Kino can't get the stock and my friend says the publisher Daran went bankrupt! This is what I get for dragging my feet! There goes my solution >__<

But on the upside, have started Naruto from Chuang Yi. Only read one volume now, but seems quite interesting and the story quite refreshing. Only know one thing for now - Sasuke's secret idol is Gendo Ikari.

Friday, August 15

Butter, corn flour, eggs, chocolate rice - all ready to make butter cookies tomorrow! Ohohoho! I like them, but dunno why my mom prefers the (slightly) rock-hard ginger cookies I made the other time. *puzzled*

Wai! Hana Yori Dango and Fruits Basket 12! But recently I was thinking on how to control my manga obsession and have arrved at a solution. Do not buy manga which I do not want more than Twin Signal manga books 1-5 and 10-17. Since the only way I can get my hands on those is if I order them from Kinokuniya, and wait four weeks before they arrive, there's little chance I'll give into temptation and buy a manga that I want less. And right now, since I already know the plot in HYD and FruBa, there not much reason to buy the new vols. Next month, next month, yes? So proud of myself, ohohoho.

Am getting back into the HanaKimi groove - Sano is so sweet and Mizuki is so cute. She's the kind of female lead that no one can hate - kinda like an older Sakura Kinomoto ^_^ And damn if Kagurazuka and Shin don't remind me of Seifer and Squall - even the hair is right, not to mention the attitude. Heard the manga is gonna end at 23 though. But that okay, cause Nakajo-sensei is working on a new series - Wild Kiss - can't wait to read that one.

Thursday, August 14

Have been thinking (of all the bloody things) of a past disagreement with JC friends and (undesirable as the activity is) have been running thru' the incident in my head, thinking about what I could have said. I would have felt good to say those things because it would have vindicated me.

But I have long before learnt to choose the meeker alternative - turn a blind eye and deaf ear, and the unpleasantness will all blow past after a while - I will turn out all the more mature for it. Glad to say, I haven't regretted my choices. Because our choices make us, and all those times, if I had said the things I had, I would now be someone brash and sharp-tongued, unable to ignore how meaningless words really are sometimes. And isn't it true that all bad stuff fade away after time and it isn't worth it to be too hung up on them.

I'd rather be hung up on anime and manga - they tell great and happy stories (depending on the ones you choose, of course) and they make me laugh ^_^

--------------------------------------------------------------

Have made some icons but no place to put them because both Brinkster and Geocities don't support remote linking. Shucks.

Gotta group date to watch LXG this Sunday! ^___^

Wednesday, August 13

Just finished Witch's Honour. I only bought the book because it seemed a very familiar story. Wow though. Love how Siegel changes the names of famous magical figures to reflect the changes wrought by time. While some have said that this third book is too final - i would say it is very fully-completed. There are possibilities for a continuation, except most of what all the characters implies an end to the story. Very sad in some ways, how they had changed over time. Not a conventional happy ending - but gives a different flavour - though in my view, not necessarily a preferable ending. Holds true to the idea of how power tends to attract tragedy though. Still very much in love with the lyrical quality of the text - it is something you could read out loud and still sense what lies in between the lines. Am now unsure if I should read the first book - all the reviews praise the first book as the best but I'm afraid I'll cry after finishing it.

But Witch's Honour is one of those big books that after immersing myself in it, i need to read some stone-dumb straight-forward fanfic to clear out the clouds in my mind. Bet i'm gonna have weird dreams again tonight...

gah! spent six dreadful hours yesterday with friends because, while the stuff we saw was interesting and we went lots of places, my nose was dripping the whole day and I had a slight fever >_< but i ate lots of different types of food - takopachi at bugis, kakiage rice burger at Mos and sushi and Yeo's soyabean at Taka ^_^ not a whole lot, which is why i'm feeling hungry now thatI have woken up at 6am ^_^

I felt quite disconnected from the RO fest because the pretty pictures of mages and theieves didn't do anything for me - I don't play they game...though if I did, I would probably be charmed by the cute little chinese vampire...then we dropped by kino and ate a little at the food court at taka. The trains were fearfully crowded when we got to the MRT - thick crowds and all - but the next train was better.

But I am sooo happy because I dropped by Tampines Mall's rental book store on a whim and saw Jan Siegel's third book, Witch's Honour, and snapped it up! And it's the UK edition with the mysterious cover!!! I read the ending a bit, and yes it is a little final, but it has the bittersweet fantasy kind of ending I would expect from writers of this genre. And it doesn't seem really so final, esp if you read deeper into it...Am looking forward to reading the first book - but probably next month though...I'm a little into the book now, and it stil retained it lyrical quality but the descriptions do no seem as smooth as the previous book. But then I have a long way to go...

Saturday, August 9

music: Enya - Marble Hall

gah, need a good pick-me-up anime/manga/story - been having weird dreams lately >_< Saw a little of that Peach Girl drama - ugh! exactly the sort of depressing story I avoid.

So it's a good thing I'm gonna go to the Ragnarok Online fest! ^_^ i dun play but finally a good gathering of friends ^_^ we may be seeing a movie later but i dunno if here are any good shows around...

watched a bit of Azumangah Daioh - kyaaa! Chiyo-chan in that blue penguin suit! So cute!!!!!!!!

have also been inspired to make a few Slayers icons ^_^

have been on a little of a roll - finally filling up applications and resumes faster!

Friday, August 8

Spent yesterday with my mom, godmother and aunt when they got togther at my godma's house to play a few hundred rounds of gin rummy, heh. Am always curious and strangely moved by the interaction between my uncles and aunties. My mom has a staggering five other siblings - can you imagine the number of nephews and nieces I have now? Watching my aunts + uncles, I always wonder if 60 years down the road, will my sis and I (who have a mere 20 years of interaction) be like that? I mean, that 60 years of being happy and sad together, experiencing all the flowers and shit life can throw at you. I boggles my mind but it draws me inexorably to watch more.

My aunt was telling me about the time my sis was born and how she and my godmother were praying at the hospital's statue of St Jude (of hopeless causes, was it?) when they heard my mom give a tremendous yell. Starled out of their fervent prayers, their knees gave and they fell. Kneeling at the feet of the statue and clutching his knees for balance, my aunt giggled that it was sheer good luck that the statue didn't fall on them, or else while my mom is leaving the hospital they, on the other hand, would be going in. Aiya...

I like going with her, even when I was in the middle of my thesis, because she doesn't go out much and she really enjoys the the time she spends with them. It also lets me look at family on another scale - not just the family you live with, but the kind that have known you forever. It's worth it, even if it means gin rummy revision and clouds of second-hand smoke, heheh.

=======================================

but quite naturally you didn't expect me to stay in one place for hours, so I took a while to stroll through Northpoint shopping centre and finally bought my first DVD! (On the other hand, I can't even look at comics till the end of the month, wah.) The Cat Returns by Studio Ghibli totally charmed me because it was so whimsical and has an Alice in Wonderland kinda thing. In contrast, the other Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki animes have not caught my attention. Although it the rumour about Miyazaki animating Diana Wynn Jones' Howl's Moving Castle is true, I'll be over the moon. ^__^

watched Tomb Raider 2 the day before. If this is better than the first movie - thank the seven heavens I never got near the first one. Came out of the movie theatre with ringing ears and a raging heaache because the producers thought it was amusing to use loud sounds to build up a sense of excitement. I didn't like the shadow creatures because I don't feel they were designed in a way that fit their environment and after a while the whole pounce-on-them-and-tear-them-in-half routine gets tedious.

And WHY FOR GOODNESS' SAKE DID THEY HAVE TO TRAVERSE THE DANGEROUS PETRIFIED FOREST WHEN CROFT'S MERCENARY BF JUST HAS TO FIND A CONVENIENT HOLE IN THE HILL AND THAT BRINGS HIM RIGHT ON TOP OF THE BLOODY BOX?! That is what I call a very painful hole in the plot. The plot movement was also too jerky and expositional.

Monday, August 4

Just when I was all smug about getting my hours right again, I go and take a catnap for six freaking hours!

Saw an anime title called Magical Fairy Persia and my brain happily drew a line between that and Taketori Shuichi. Aiya...

Tomb Raider 2 is starting to look like a watchable movie...but no, I will last until LXG comes out.

Sunday, August 3

was happily watching The Amazing Race on AXN just now and managed to turn myself off dinner because one roadblock involved eating live little octopi. They were chopped up (as in head separated from eyes separated from tentacles) but the pieces still managed to slither around and out of the plate. Urgh!

yay! updated the layout for Violet Haze 4: Unliving Substitute (see left for link) - featuring the kakkoi Kurosaki Hisoka and Minase Hijiri from Yami no Matsuei. Sadly, adeline is a lazy jerk, so the webbie has been languishing in brinkster for more than a month and my gallery and links section aren't done yet *sigh*

have been having fun reading some Hikaru no Go fics - but the one which spooked me the most was this one by Aishuu - she does have a great ability to write serious sychological/supernatural stuff with interesting twists.

Friday, August 1

either it's because i didn't sleep or the shock had only just wore off but...WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY DOING PUTTING TOUYA AKIRA IN A LAVENDER SUIT?!!! WITH A PINK SHIRT! ARGHHH!~~~~ Tho' I thot Hikaru looked fetching - all that blue and yellow, you know...

went a while to this year's matric fair - *sigh* wish i had joined more clubs when i was in NUS...or at least tried out the clubs for a while...very efficient this year - they got everyone to move the chairs and tables their club used, splitting the effort needed to clear the hall amongst more than a hundred people - the whole clearing took oni 25 min, saving the organising committee the back-breaking work of doing it themselves...

finally finished watching Hikaru no Go - pwah!~ interesting ending since they ended without animating the Hokuto Cup, but still managed to squeeze in relevant scenes leading to it. Quite a heavy series, dunno if i'll be watching it again soon but quite good build-up - suddenly realised that Shindou only got to meet Touya in a competition after sixty eps?!

Wai! they kept the argument scene - it's so cute! Also feel kinda sad for Touya Kouyo cause he's gonna be waiting for quite a while, ne? That's a good point in this story - it actually pays attention to the basic tension that the story first started with, and explained it too (Torajirou for Sai, and Sai for Shindou - very mystic that). But the game still goes completely over my head ^_^; Was watching the HnG for the character and plot development mostly...

The most emotional part of the story was when Hikaru read Sai's kifu and realised how good a player Sai is - he seemed to be almost driven mad by the idea that Sai was present all that time but didn't get to play. Also when he finally "found" Sai again through his own game. If it was another anime, they might have made a great deal out Touya seeking out Hikaru to encourage/challenge him, but instead it was Isumi. Interesting...

Seems to stick pretty closely to the manga - practically exactly. So am reading the parts that the anime missed out. Funny ending though.

Going to sch later, better sleep for a while, ne?
