Streams on Cobblestones

The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

Bought Kareshi Kanojyo no Jijou Vol 16 and nearly expired from all the kawaii chibi-Soujiro scenes. Makes you wanna just hug him!...what? No, of course I'm not using manga to compenstate for my ticking biological clock *grumble grumble* Am sad I didn't read it earlier - it's a pretty feel-good volume because Soujiro finally stops hiding and tells his friends about his problem (i.e. a abusive ex-maternal entity stalking him) and they all support him in preventing her from catching him at the school gates. Some pretty funny scenes (like how Tsubasa and Sara used their Holy Magical Light Barrier so that the evil abusive stalking entity couldn't get close, haha. Also a nice scene for Asapin fans at the end. Lots of cute Miyazawa/Arima scenes too, heheh.

Now gonna read the volume properly...

No headaches today, just occasional flashes of feelin' like someone stuck a real-hot satay stick into my head. Combated this with liberal application of raisin-happies.

...so, was watching this movie on cable where Keanu Reeve falls in love with this vibrant but terminally ill girl. He also gets to meet her guy friends who turn out to be (rather built) cross-dressers! Now, the acting was quite nice, expecially how the girl Sarah was portrayed, and how her two friends supported her. Keanu was doing his typical confused male lead role. But I kinda enjoyed the show, especially the part where Sarah's illness relapsed and she overturns a bowl of pudding in the kitchen - you can see how her guy friend restrains himself from infringing on her independence, and lets her pick her ownself up. Very touching...and haven't I seen those two cross-dressers before???

The second reason why I enjoyed the movie didn't strike me until five in the a.m when I was finally winning my wrestling match with insommnia - Hey, weren't those two.....Lucius Malfoy and Lex Luthor in drag!!!

=====================================================

Other stuff that have been bugging me...

1) Did you know in the Naruto anime, in the scene after the three kiddies pass Kakashi's test, and Naruto is locking up his front door, his keychain is actually a miniature of Kakashi's pug?

2) The more I look at it, the more I think it is true. Sasuke has a Vrumugun nose...and a Zelgadiss drama queen personality - which is some way, is scarier than Itachi's unbelievable age lines...

3) Was Iruka given a scar on his nose because dolphins also have scars on their noses?

4) Doesn't Tsunade on the cover of volume 18 look like she just stepped off the set for Divergence Eve?

5) And the MOST IMPORTANT question! Won't Kakashi get undesirable tan lines on his face, what with the mask and head protector covering like four-fifths of his face? What if some guy hires ninjas for lifeguard duty and Kakashi has to spend the day in the sun? And won't his depth perception be screwed up if he covers one eye? How does he copy stuff then?

=====================================================

And a bad dream last night - in the form of a Discovery documentary on the cannibalistic natures of various insects. It made the one with the poor red crabs on Christmas island seem like a stroll in the park. Ugh.

Feeling average today. Headachy on and off, most annoying.

OMG!!! Koucha Ouji Vol 17 hints at a bigger conspiracy. Gopal and Darjeeling revisit Singapore - apparently to the same spot where Alisha (Aliya might be closer I think) first summoned Darjeeling. Aliya seems to be very fond of Darjeeling, rather than Gopal - the one scene where Gopal actually converses with Aliya seems rather acrimonious where Aliya promises she'll hate Gopal for the rest of her life for exiling Darjeeling since she had never heard of Darjeeling murdering his owner. And Gopal replies (rather evilly) that exile is the only way he can fulfill her request to save the three of them, and Darjeeling knows this as well.

And in another scene, when Gopal claims Assam is just as serious and kind as his father, and Darjeeling says he is actually praising himself (Gopal), Gopal replies that he (Gopal) is neither kind or serious.

So....at first I thought the "three of them" meant Darjeeling, Aliya and Gopal. But what he actually said was "the three of you" and not "the three of us." So the wheels started turning and "!!!" what if Darjeeling and not Gopal is Assam's dad? I mean, his skin colour could be influenced by his mom. And though Assam looks a whole lot like Gopal, it certainly won't be the first time manga had tricked readers that way...Though I gotta say that Assam is more sturdy like Gopal, rather than reedy like Darjeeling. I think Gopal is made more sinister because he reveals himself as a cunning player who treats the younger generation of Tea Princes like pawns. He also tells Ceylon that he actually hates humans a lot, but ironically fell in love with a human. Vol 17 is more sinister and angsty than the other volumes, but vol 18 - 19 dun seems to go so much into the mysterious conspiracy. And kyyaaa, chibi Ceylon is so cute~! Can fight with chibi Hisoka liao.

Have been eating a lot today in a desperate bid to get some food-happies and stave off those headachy feelings - because I'd rather face a weight problem than the possibility of having a real headache (leading to a need for Panadol, leading to a need to swallow more pills! That stupid perscription is more than I've ever taken, dammit!) So I had dumplings, a container of starfruit (which I deliberately called jackfruit to startle my mum, heh) and a packet of those spicy Korean instant noodles. Fuuny thing is, the doc ordered me away from spicy stuff, but after the instant noodles, my headache seems to have receded!...for now that it. I'm worried that if I go to sleep, it'd sneak up on me again.

Re-reading Koucha Ouji till vol 14 now - and counting the numerous Assam/Taiko cues I missed! Gah! I'm such a dork! Though they were kinda innocuous... Was actually rooting for Haruka, Taiko's best male friend because he seems kinda capable and always looks out for her - and I can so see the whole Assam returns home and Taiko ends up marrying Haruka scenario instead. But from the looks of things, I think he got little chance liao. Poor guy.

Wednesday, September 24

As it having a headache, a cough and a leaky air-con isn't enuff...i just had the mother of all bad dreams just from thinking about scary scarecrows and re-reading Koucha Ouji before bedtime! I dun need to watch horror films! My brain supplies me with enuff material. Yuk! Wah~! I need to regain my good vibes!

Tuesday, September 23

ugh, feeling terribly woozy today, and by implication, feeling pukey as well. Dunno if it is because of my medicine or not. It can't be because I didn't eat enough because I made sure to have a meal before each dose. Feel so woozy I can't even get the energy to go to Tampines. And when I was making a layout in Photoshop and I made the words too big, I felt nauseous looking at the screen! Tried biscuits and tea to get rid of the feeling but it's pretty persistent. Am now resorting to raisins - wish me luck! Gotta psychometric test next thurs, sincerely hope i get well by then, and not screw up the essay!

oh hang on...Assam said 50-60 years in the human world is 5 or 6 years in Tealand. But since Darjeeling has been gone from Tealand longer than Assam's 20 years, that means Darjeeling has been in the human world at least 200 years. And the time period he (Darjeeling) met Alisha would be around 1800s (which kinda fits since he met her in Singapore when it was still a small fishing village.) Although that does not confirm how long Darjeeling's exile is - it seems he can still be a Tea Prince to Taiko's father even while in exile, so he could have been Alisha's Tea Prince while in exile too. I am rather curious how he manages to hide so much hair under that turban - but the latest pic of him (as a Tea Prince) does show him with shoulder-length hair. And that Assam suggested to Earl Grey that he (and by implication, they) stay for the next 60 years, hints the alternative solution (c.f. to Gopal's) that is to stay in the human world rather than bring Taiko over. Hmmm...but no way Gopal's gonna allow that, right? And Gopal's somewhat sinister aura and Darjeeling's and Ceylon's wariness suggests that perhaps Gopal made Darjeeling the scapegoat for the whole Alisha affair (Alisha was probably against it - it seems humans tend to be fond of their Tea Princes). But then that won't fit with how Earl Grey's mom claimed that Gopal sacrificed innocent others for himself and Darjeeling.

Remember in Yami no Matsuei, Hisoka once pulled a cranky scary young master BECAUSE I SAY act on Tsuzuki and Terazuma, and cowed their guts out? Ceylon's character is like that 24/7. He's terribly pragmatic, perpetually bad-tempered, got messy hair and got a sarcastic tongue like a Ginsu knife. I adore him!

Koucha Ouji 20 - WAHHH!!!~~~ Hong Mu Dan went back home! The author sure handled the parting scene very well! But doesn't matter, me still rooting for Hong Mu Dan and Someko! (Altho' their future seems bleak...)

And *gasp* I never knew Assam was in love with Taiko? I mean, I didn't know that he knows! I was thinking that she's in denial and he's just too thick to pick up on it yet, or is just abnormally hung up on humans because of his own human blood. And Earl Grey knows as well?!!! I thot that it was only in the suspicious stages but if he confronted Assam about it, the latter would be totally ignorant! Arrghhh! My once-keen spider-sense is really failing me in this series!

And King Gopal, if I didn't like him before, I really dislike him now! - looks like he really is evil (as opposed to simply being a cunning old pervert...) and Ceylon's mom has got the wicked witch thing sooo going for her - the black dress with the plunging neckline, the inky ruffles and feathers.

It seems the idea of a Tea Prince/Princess is slowly breaking down in the series as each prince and princess seems to return from the human world with a broken heart. Can't see how they would want to continue with the practice if all it leads to is sadness. On the other hand, can't see things just up and resolve happily. I mean, Gopal tried to bring his love to Tealand, but Alisha started ageing at an accelerated pace because she was human, and Assam grew up without a mother. So that can't be the solution for the Hong Mu Dan/Someko and Assam/Taiko scenarios. And it's not like you could just dissolve the differences between the worlds...

Mysterious conspiracy update: Even more juicy details but still no connections - for some reason, they want Ceylon to resume his father's duties, but not to assume the throne, hmm...and for some reason, Gopal (as Earl Grey's mom claims) had been offing people (including Hong Mu Dan's mom?!) because of himself and Darjeeling. I'm guessing that Alisha's Tea Prince was Darjeeling and somehow Gopal got to meet Alisha (much like how Assam met Taiko) and both the Tea princes got Alisha to Tealand somehow, but probably broke all sorts of rules in the process, resulting in Darjeeling's exile to the human world where he spent at least twenty-five human years as Taiko's dad's Tea Prince....Errggghh! But I still can't see the connections properly! And the maths between the times of both worlds is driving me retarded....makes me wanna start a mind map or something.

================================================

D.N Angel 9 - Kyaaaa!!!! Daisuke being exceptionally cute and huggable in this volume! And the With-moppet! And the With-moppet-pretending-to-be-Dark and getting brained by a mineral water bottle for smiling too much! So cute! But Daisuke's still so cute~~~!

================================================

Went to my godmother's today, and listened to my mom, godma and aunt talk. My godpa makes funny jokes. Had a weird combination of food today - 2 ham sandwiches, one otah, KFC's cheese fries, a little porridge, mini M&Ms. Maybe that's why feelin' headachy....One more day left of my medicine but still coughing. Ugh.

Another batch of applications to fill up...

Sunday, September 21

Can you get high on cough mixture and enzyme tablets? Cause I keep feeling woozy an hour after my medicine.

Saturday, September 20

Hurrah for me for though i am sicker than a dog, hacking like no body's business, I have successfully swallowed my first tablet - without liquifying it, without throwing it back up or otherwise tossing it out with the trash. Of course, I had to hide it in a piece of bread first, but hurrah!

Friday, September 19

My net karma seems to be paying off. Filled in a WatzArt survey and got a thank you email from an Iruka. *grin*

Wednesday, September 17

Went to watch Pirates of the Carribean again! Still very funny (tho' less than the first time) esp when Jack went on his whole It-would-never-have-worked-between-us spiel. Orlando look hotter, tho' skinner too. (Tho' not as hot as Legolas, of cos) Just realised that Norrington fellow is the same guy at the start of the movie - so he is like maybe eight or more years older than Elizabeth?! Didn't notice much more new stuff except that Captain Barbosa was duelling Jack Sparrow with one hand, because he was clutching the green apple with the other. My friend also asked a pertinent question - did the monkey also spend the gold coins from the chest? We concluded it was probably because it has a habit of carrying stuff for Barbosa, so it probably scurried off with coins too.

After the movie sat around for some bubble tea - but i skipped out on cold drinks because of my cough - but how could I resist onion rings? So I ended up worsening my cough anyway, plus all that coke during the movie. After that all the places were closed so invited my friends to my place where we sat at the deck chairs near the swimming pool and chatted stuff until one plus before they had to go home. Feels nice ^__^

Monday, September 15

Everytime i got accustomed to the sheer yuckiness of antibiotics, the manufacturers managed to surprise me with a new 10x more yucky taste. Yuckity-yuckity yu~~~~~~~~~ck!

I Am A: Chaotic Good Elf Bard Ranger

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Deity:
Hanali Cenanil is the Chaotic Good elven goddess of love, beauty, and art. She is also known as the Heart of Gold and Lady Goldheart. Her followers delight in creation and youth, and work to spread happiness, love, and beauty. Their preferred weapon is the dagger.

Went to the Creative Sale today - yes, was crowded and you actually had to queue to get in - but the line moved pretty fast and by 12 plus (about an hour and a half after I got in) the queue was gone. Got my sis's camera in about ten minutes, spent the rest of the time in a huge queue which, as time went by, only got longer and longer. To the point, the poor frazzled crowd-control assistant had to ask pple to shop around some more because the queue was full. Like the first one, the queue to the payment counter was quite fast - I think they had like 6 counters open. I wasn't all that bored because they was a large no. of interesting pple to look at - couples, aunties and uncles, cute techie guys, heheh. The audio speaker sets seem to be a hot favourite since the queue straggled along as people lazily pushed the large boxes with their feet whenever the queue advanced. Some smart people even placed their boxes on the line next to them, queued around the bend, and picked up their boxes as they got to them again, since the queue was kinda S-shaped but the lines were really close to each other.

Went to Funan to drop of the camera to my sis then headed to Mos Burger at Bugis - almost succumbed to Hana Yori Dango 35(? - the Yuuki vol) but didn't buy it in case I see a nice doujinshi at the WatzArt event tomorrow. Further tormented myself upon arriving at Tampines by going to Comics Connection - seeing Koucha Ouji 20, Fruits Basket 12 and Kareshi Kanojyo no Jijou 16 - and deciding not to buy them either. Wah.

Just read the chapters leading to the end for Hana Yori Dango - omg! it soo sweet! Really wish the manga would continue as it is now, but the current ending is also ok - a real well-rounded ending - with the trade-mark T&T humour! Sad in some places, but really funny in others! I really hope there are gonna be like short continuation side-stories so soon. Can't wait for the manga...damn, now i wanna read the Yuuki volume. Kyaa, i'm falling in love with the series all over again!

Gonna go to the Creative Warehouse sale tomorrow - let's hope I won't get stampeded under.

Thursday, September 11

OMG! Gai-sensei is hysterical! He's like a billion times better in anime version - and he's dressed exactly the same as Rock Lee, even the yellow leg-warmers! And the whole teacher-student bonding routine - the animated version is a huge success - even thinking about it now made all my hair stand up, hehehehe....

Also caved and finally got a Kakashi wallpaper - the one where he's asleep and you can see framed photographs of his team when Yondaime was his sensei, and another where he is Team's sensei. *fangirl giggle* Also did some thinking about Naruto/Hinata (if such a day ever came, never expected her to sound so soft in the anime...) - for example, what would be Hinata's super-strict dad's reaction be if he found out that Naruto is dating his daughter (assuming Naruto isn't Rokudaime or something by then...)?

Feel better now, drank three-quarters of a lemon tea infusion and my runny nose and lethargy diminished. Have a bit of a headache, though I suspect it is more because I'm starving. Or maybe it cause of the second Naruto ending I downloaded - nice vocals and very sweet lyrics, but a tad too high-pitched, I could feel my brain cells grinding against one another in agony. Nah, knowing me, it's probably food.

Totally stalled on my sis's website (lazy to start the CSS) but made more changes to my bryce file - have real walls now, and not just some hollowed out cuboid. Also decided to throw away the condo idea and start expanding the floorplan - blame it all on those nice country houses and this wonderful tutorial pre-made house file which had a wonderful loft and balcony.

Saw an interesting Stonehenge documentary which proposed that the monument was made so that the neolithic (sp?) people who were changing from hunters to farmers, would be able to hold on to their lunar beliefs while at the same time embracing the solar age. Apparently, the lower window is supposed to allow the setting sun to shine through, but the upper window is to allow the moon to shine through, thus showing that the two powers are really one, thereby comforting the people who were caught in the turmoil of a changing age.

Wednesday, September 10

way-out dream this morning - evading evil criminal types, attending a secondary after-school assembly at the top of a platform, with the announcers leaning against a pillar across the drain. But the best part was being able to cut across the sea-swimmingpool water at incredible speeds just by thinking hard about it. And like many of my speed-demon dreams, there must somehow always be some danger involved - like crashing into speedboats. I think this time is a mix of PotC, reading too many Iruka (Dolphin) fics, and a belief that too much fun always comes with a little danger. Or maybe I just got a craving to go swimming?

Yay, have gotten the go-ahead from my sis to continue with her website. Made the decision to split the website into a professional and personal section. She like teddy bears so I made the banner for her personal section teddy bears, but that can hardly be displayed on her work section. Now all I need is the content! And that's where the tough part come in, I always stall at this part because trying to get content from her is like trying to get water from a stone. But it had given me some more motvation to continue with my Hikaru no Go layout.

Tuesday, September 9

Despite less then perfect weather, a leaky nose, and my sis's website waiting to be done, took a train all the way to Bedok to hunt for Naruto 16. Luckily I found it!

. . . . . . .

*deranged growl* And is it a sign that Desperado has come on my winamp right now?!

Whah~ that Iruka and Konohamaru scene was so sad, and Jiraiya is such a funny dork! Gosh that shark guy is u~gly and Naruto is still a cu~te kid! Found this volume to be the most meaningful - it seems like all the little details of the village's way of life is coming together with Sandaime's explanation. Dunno, maybe I'm thinking too much...always a danger. Still, the details and connections are astounding.

Fliched this from Nurul's blog. Thx, heheh!

one gripe I have with personality tests - the awfully serious ones - are that sometimes they can't classify me. Besides Type 1, it seems my scores tie for Types 3,4,5,6 as well - so i'm an achiever, individualist, investigator and loyalist also. Though how can you be a reformer and a loyalist at the same time?

Rock Lee's floating hearts making squishy sounds when they hit the pillar! And Sakura's panicked attempts to avoid them. And those unbelievable yellow leg-warmers, complete with matching maroon head protector! I was laughing so hard, my mom actually came into my room to see if a hysterical hyena-spirirt has taken over her daughter. But......ack! It pains me to admit this but *gulp* Iruka's almost motherly. Arghhh! *kicks her stupid brain-stew*

==================================================

They say not to look too hard for what you are searching for, for if it is meant to be, it will simply happen.

Spent weeks wondering what to buy my sis for her fast-approaching birthday, only to have her waltz into my room earlier this evening, asking me if I could drop by the Creative warehouse sale and help her pick up this PC camera because she has to go to work. Heheh!

Monday, September 8

kyaaa! Watched Naruto 1 - 20 today!

Memorable moments:
= Haku -> White -> Snow Rabbit -> voice of Yue/Yukito = coincidence or more than meets the eye?

= You have a long-haired guy with a gorgeous snowy complexion, cuter-than-Sakura smile, carrying a herb-basket while wearing in a PINK dress - WELL OF COURSE HE GETS MISTAKEN AS A GIRL!!!

= Naruto and Inari almost having a Dr Evil moment after they defeated the two random goons

= Sasuke becoming a porcupine and geting a kenshin scar.

= Naruto's Kyuubi routine - pwah!~ Lives up to expectation.

= Kakashi's cho-kawaii ribbon-twirling routine with the summoning scroll, heheh.

= Kakashi more kakkoi animated! Helluva more talkative too!......but more kakkoi!

= Sasuke more whiter animated.

= *Gasp!* Animated Zabusa almost at bishonen level at the end - even if he plucks his eyebrows.

= Unfortunately Sakura animated seem to have diminished as a character - it seems she gets all the whining and doubts. But the animated Inner Sakura is sooo funny!

= Upon serious contemplation, the anime seems to have made tiny changes so as to support ALL pairings! Must be all that talk of precious persons, I tell you.

= Nice rock music, touching sad music.

= Sugoi teary Zabusa/Haku ending! - it captured the feel from the manga completely. Even the pauses were well-done!

= Love the details! Like how the snowflake which fell on Haku's eyelash melted as the sunrays spilled down and became like Haku crying a tear. *sob* Or like how they didn't just thump front-and-back-needle-laden Sasuke on his back, but had Naruto catch him by his un-needled side cause then he probably would really have croaked. *snerk*

= Also love all those cute chibi scenes - esp in explaining jutsu - now if only the explaining didn't take so long.

= Hate the talk-talk-talk - it really screws up the action though it keeps to the script quite very faithfully. Like "Ahah! Faster than the eye can see, I have immobilised you with my cute nin-dogs! Now I shall spend precious minutes elaborating on why your ambition is an evil danger, thereby allowing your pure-as-snow underling to overhear my long-winded lecture, and dash in front of my powerful attack." And all the flashbacks! - some even take up to 4-7 mins long! Was fast-forwarding a lot - tho' it could also be partly cause I already know the story.

Sunday, September 7

Friend lent me a bunch of anime so I dropped by Sim Lim today to renew my CD-R supply. Unfortunately, my brain was on Pluto, and I bought 50 pieces of the world's most gross looking CD-Rs ever. The design is worse than the flowers and the santa clause designs or even the cute glittering star sign animals. It's so terrible, I need CD labels to cover them up before I could even contemplate lending them to friends or anything. I am such a dork sometimes!

=================================================

But good news! Pirates of the Carribean!!! Sooo hilarious, I was laughing every 5 min! Johnny Depp was great and so funny in the show, he brought out all the right cues at the right time! Giggled my stomach inside out! Okay, Orlando Bloom was nice as well, but I prefer him blond and blue-eyed, heh. So the trailer for Once upon a time in Mexico - which also has Depp! - and seems like Antonio Bandaras and Salma Hayek reprise their roles from Desperados.

Weird dreams complete with stampeding ants and conspiring gorillas. Tree sofas and brandy. I think it was the result of this French female whodunit, Naruto and spotting ants in the toilet yesterday. And a new Lady Rhiyana Labyrinth fic done much in the House Malfoy politicking manner. And sleeping at 6am of cos. Someone save me ^_^

kyaa!!

The secret! The secret!

The hand-holding!! The hand-holding!!

Their faces! The bushes!

kyaa!!!

Thanx choklad!!!

kyaaa! Have been busy doing stuff so am only writing this now.

Went to watch Down with Love today with a friend at Causeway Point all the way in Woodlands! That place is like double the size of Tampines Mall! (but then TM combine with Century Sq can still fight lar heh). Was expecting a sappy romance, but it's so funny because it seems so 1960 but was actually a parody of it - it's sooo funny! May buy the vcd - but then I always think that. Like it cause it is unexpected and it has Niels (and all his psychosis) in it! Was cracking up my side when she started in that looong loong explanation on her plot. And they pulled an Austin Powers!

Turned out the Comic Connections there (ahah! my real motive for going to the mall!) had Naruto 17! And it had a chunk I hadn't read from the online scanlations. Whoa, that Itachi guy just totally lost his coolness factor with those mile-long age lines. He looked older than his and Sasuke's dad! And kyaa~ Naruto is so kawaii enjoying the fair! Buying takoyaki and candy. Makes you just want to pick him up (clean him a bit) and hug him to death!!! He soooo has that poor-little-orphan-boy thing going for him in vol 17. (well, he doesn't have family, neither is he very tall, and in that vol, he sure is poor, thanks to Jiraiya. *snerk*)

Then went to Suntec with my friend to check out the Comex Exhibition. Missed finding my sis who was helping out at one of the booths - but got loads of catalogues for her. Got a little tempted at all the mp3 players I saw and the sales pitch. But I NEED Naruto storyline more, so......Had my eyes configured to looked for catalogues that even after leaving the exhibition, my fingers would involuntarily twitch whenever they saw a colourful pamphlet.

Then went to this great place for dinner near the Fountain of Fortune! It was pretty cheap too! Next time must go again - it was a chinese food place where you tick your orders on A4 menus and you collect your own food. Very nice prawn noodles and the sotong you2 tiao2 was delicious because I never had it before!

Gonna watch PotC tomorrow! La dee dah~

Thursday, September 4

Really like the smooth vocals of Wheatus - but wish their lyrics were different...but then if the lyrics were different, they won't be Wheatus anymore...

Went for an interview today at Prudential for a HR job. Best interview I ever went because person who was interviewing me was friendly, frank and very good at explaining what the company was all about. Not condescending at all. I really admire people who take alternative paths to success. The logic behind the firm and its functions made so much sense, for once I didn't zonk out halfway (hahah) and managed to retain a good bit of the overview. Just sat there and noded periodically like a bright-eyed woodpecker. The whole trip back, I was a little dazed.

Also had to take a personality test - which I dun think I did well because I was not feeling very independent and sociable. Was systematic though, so hope that helps. Have changed my perspective on financial planners liao, though I'm not very eager to apply for the position, but I got a better picture of what they are doing, and it seems like a whole big adventure.

On a very bad note, had to hobble all the way home because of a pair of hellhole torture contraptions otherwise known as heels. Now have nice blisters on the last toes of both my feet, one on my right heel (my right foot is smaller) and a bloodstain on my left heel. *curse and swear* It hurt so much, I didn't even have the mood to drop by the comic store on the way home. Wah.

Tuesday, September 2

Was just thinking about the roles of Tohru and Akito in Fruits Basket manga. Around the time Ritsu showed up, it occurred to me that all the 12 + 1 seem to be showing up in a way which is also like homage to a wise woman. All the Jyuunishi somehow bring their problems to her and she offers them words of advice, sometimes without the Jyuunishi member seeking it or without Tohru even conscious of the advice she gives. Thus, I was anticipating inevitable conflict because Akito - who seems very much the harsh punishing patriarchal male - eventually loses power to the maternal (mystic?) wisdom which Tohru possesses - this feeling even more enhanced by the how she often refers to wisdom handed down by her mother. Not bringing in any religious references, Akito's position of the god of the Jyuunishi further underlines the idea of male omnipotence which Tohru threatens indirectly through her friendship with the Jyuunishi.

I'm probably reading too much into it but Tohru also seems to have a close attachment to her mother picture in a way that makes me wonder if in her heart she still does not accept that her mother is really gone. Because altho Kyoko passed away, her presence is very much felt in the series, through Tohru, her daughter...also, the idea that Kyoko met Kyou before gave rise to all sorts of conspiracy theories in my head...

More Naruto anime comments

- Aiyah! Didn't expect Orochimaru to sound his age...all raspy and scratchy.
- On the other hand, kyaaa! Gekkou sounds sooo smooth!...for a guy who coughs so much.
- ok, ok, was gonna say that Naruto sounds like a girl aka kenshin/yuki but upon further listening, he just sounds twelve...
- probably the effects of manga, but Iruka was darker than I expected...

oh gosh! the ending for the Naruto anime is sooo cuuute!~ Chibi dancing Sakura and Ino! I like how they matched the very last bit to the lyrics and had Naruto turn around instead of Sasuke and how the two chibis kunoichi were pissed about it ^__^

heheh, my friend passed me this nify link to a elf name generator. Adeline Tan translates to Idril Telrunya - tho i couldn't pronounce it in a million years because there's supposed to be some stroke thingy on top of the 'u.'

Read the latest Naruto chapter - omg! they made Naruto into a bishonen! How so? He has fallen into the prerequisite hero-who-falls-into-love-with-heroine- who-is-already-in-love-with-someone-else-and-whom-has-other-bishonens-in-love-with-her (Rock Lee certainly qualifies as for the "shonen" part). It's not stressed on a lot in the beginning but when he says "I understand" it sounds an awful lot like "I understand because I feel the same about you, Sakura. *heart heart*" which most definitely sounds like a line from a shoujo. I don't know whether to shudder or be amused. I shall settle for being happy because now Naruto/Hinata is more likely, yay!

Am very surprised by the latest turn of events - not the Sasuke one, which was pretty expected - but the Shikamaru one! Am very happy that the artist supports his supporting characters! Shows originality and brains! And it's not a side story kinda thing - but really intergrated into the plot! Not easy to illustrate a character with an IQ of 200, you know...

And vanilla coke tastes (and smells) like liquid cotton candy. Oh wait, anyone remember those packets of candy powder which you toss into your mouth and it crackles? It tastes like a whole ton of that got mixed into Coke's vats. Just in case anyone's wondering....Hope my teeth dun all fall out tomorrow morning.

MUST HAVE D.N. ANGEL VOL. 9 KYAAAAA!!!! I'm so curious, I'm on the verge of signing on a mailing list so I can see scans, ohohoho...

On a side note - my naruto download is slower than a deaf blind comatose turtle, arrgghhh!

But also stumbled on a website called Tasty Graphite with the cutest Naruto fanart - esp of the lesser known Yondaime!
