Streams on Cobblestones

The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

Wah, Kyou Kara Maou making deep profound plot connections between episode 2 and 46 is really something to behold. The skeleton fish reminded me of something...what? Could it be that electric lightbulb fish from Finding Nemo....no, hmmm...oh wait, was it from Lawful Drug - when Kazahaya fell into the book world and there were these floating fish....

Eh, Yoruichi talking in shades of Jiraiya is a little...but doesn't she just rock when she refers to Byakuya as "little"? In the latest manga chappies, Bleach just evolved for me. It became less of a magical boy series - all because Ichigo has some serious lineage!

Akahori Gedou Hour Rabuge is this funny anime about two groups of magical girls. One is a pair of do-gooders who incurr the nation's budget worth of property damage doing good. (They work in the day as terrible manzai artists). The other group comprises six poor sisters whose parents were professional evil underlings. To fulfil their dad's dying wish, the sisters use their new-found magical powers to evil! They end up creating a huge pot of hot stew to feed the flood victims. I love the ending theme.

Read Linda Lael Miller's Don't Look Back - she's a romance writer who is branching into murder mysteries - kinda like Elizabeth Lowell (I think...). Her sequel is titled Never Look Back *snerk* More volumes and it could be the Look Back series, just like J.D. Robb's In Death series. (Survivor out in paperback!) I'm the kind of person who can't read without a part of my brain calmly and coolly tugging at the plot lines to see where they go. That said, I like Miller's lead character (no, not Proctor). For although it is so obvious how her POV is distracting the reader from the real murderer, and although she gets shot at, threatened a bazillion times just so the hero-cop gets to smoulder to her rescue, she is also a smart-mouth broad struggling with responsibilities, not always making the most commonsensical decision. My empathies.

What I am really looking forward to the Elizabeth Peters' newest novel, The Serpent on the Crown. More twins!

Never thought I would read Hr/D (well, actually coffee/D) - but "Draco Malfoy, the Amazing Bouncing...Rat" is just so unbelieveably snarky, I was snerking to myself at 1 in the morning. (Warning: the story while not slash in itself, makes (side-splittingly hilarious) references to it, and resides on a pg with slash/yaoi fics)

Had opportunity to listen to En Vogue's Don't Let Go (Love) which wins my vote as world's most smexy song....maybe because my head was stuffed with the most inappropriate Naruto fanfics at the time....I'll stop now.

Got my passport photo taken and yet again got asked "Are you a Singaporean?"...I think I gotta sound less mousy and be more ba dao, ya? How does a Singaporean sound anyway?

Spent truckloads of hours asleep since last Monday because of a crazy merry-go-round of fever, headache and cough. Absurd dreams - like one where I was polishing off at least a dozen cups of sake in a dojo and smashing each cup as I went along.

Eveything's getting flatter...

I'm back into GetBackers! - in the latest volumes, we finally find out what's up with Ban and Yamato, and Fuuga is back! Kinda sly how they managed to worm someone extra into the team - I thought it was mainly a three-man show with Kazuki, Toshiki and Jubei. A little of that old magic is back - thot it was long gone into the Insect Arc. Ban's dad looked a little like Tsuzuki from Yami no Matsuei. Wah, Ban and Ginji both seem to be related to Babylon city via their parental figures with weird eye implants.

Also reading another gender-bender like HanaKimi - kinda funny but wordy. I don't hve the title in romanji because I get rather predictable results when I google shoujo manga, high school and male escort service club, haha. However, the series has the most cunning-wicked pair of twins I have ever encountered in manga-dom. It's also a little like Hana Yori Dango with a middle-class heroine in an elite school and meeting the son of the school's director - except he's x10 goofier than Domyouji.

Reading Naruto scanlations - yay, Sakura-power! (except more of it when she is not on strings, yah...). Firmly back in the Kakashi funk, lol. Can't wait to see Sasuke all grown up - I mean, if Neji looks the way he does...damn, I thought Chiyo was gonna pull a Tsunade when she took off her hair wrap. Two other Jinchuurikin! Hmmm, strangely cheesed off by how the latest Naruto volume to hit the shelves somehow gave him green eyes rather than blue.

Watched Jungle wa Itsumo Hare no chi Guu - FINAL. How can it be final when we finally get to meet Weda's sibs! Ehhh, Daarma baa-chan falling for the wrong kind of man *mind cracks* it's like one of those Nikita asassin flicks.

Loveless's ending is kinda good I think. Open-ended in a way that kinda answered some questions while promising more. Seimei turning out to be a real sob huh? I'm in the Please-let-Ritsuka-be-a-Fighter-and Yuiko-the-Sacrifice camp. It'd be just hilarious. Given the heavy emphasis on names, and how close Ritsu and Ritsuka sound, could Ritsuka be a constructed identity? I imagine Seimei the type to just spring from nowhere and inform his hero-worshipping bro that his identity is actually all fake. Whatever else, I just like how the series handled Ritsuka and his identity issues.

Been feelin' all-round disappointed lately - maybe cause I'm not doing things efficiently to meet expectations but I feel so swamped I can't see the way out anymore. I start the day making resolutions to prioritise and plan but at the end of the day I end up finishing a new impt task and not completing what I set out to do. Which is really bugging me. Then I get short jibes - delivered probably off-hand but which are enough to really sting and send me spiraling down further. I don't want to walk away...
