Streams on Cobblestones

The meandering road of a slightly introverted mind. Normally witty. At turns morbid and cheerful. A little weird. Have fun.

Just completed a book launch today, a really significant book in terms of the music history of Singapore. Tired to hell but even running around 9-to-9, it feels meaningful, because for a group of people, it was a really important gathering of old friends and students. I think I ought to be somewhere which involves history and hospitality - it's always an eye-opener for me to see people (the elderly ones, especially) and their experiences and friends they have made. Some weird fascination with the lives of people which leads me to believe I really ought to get cracking on the family history.

But working where I am now constantly intrigues me because of the events I am part of and the people you meet. Perhaps it's just rose-coloured romanticism but I think individuals who daringly pursue art - or devote time to a self-expression in whatever form - have a sense of energy around them. Not at all like if you worked in the a trudging job. Of course, not that I know much about how jobs in other sectors are like. But you constantly feel inspired, you know? By that quality in the people you encounter...

In other news, seen FF7AC and Harry Potter - am I weird to think the androgyny of Reno (well, he is!) is more eye-catching than freshly-tumbled-in-the-grass Cedric of the rosy sharper-than-Ginsu-knives cheekbones? Maybe it's the cheekbones? *sigh* Perhaps when the X'mas season swings along, it could be possible to return to the happy days of bishonen-ogling and overnight fanfics. Oughta take the chance to really find out stuff.

Manga manga manga!
Kyaaaa, it would have to be the last volume of Kareshi Kanoyjo no Jijou that would lure me back into wild bloggy enthusings. It's one of my fav manga endings now - it ends on such a hopeful and happy note - with a beautiful relationship-in-the-making for Asaba-tan (who really deserves it after all this time!) Go read it! It's such a pick-me-up! It's got the typical what's everyone doing siteen years later - but everyone settles into amazingly apt lives, and the humour's still kooky and lovable! Can't wait for Masami Tzuda's next work....and Hisaya Nakajo's too!!!

Saw Fruba 18....but if I am not wrong, next up would be Rin/Haru which promises to be ugly...well hot too (cos Haru and Rin are both hotter-than-Vesuvius-but-together-phew!) but ugly....yet hot...ummm...couldn't figure out who'd on the cover though - Shigure after a haircut?

Anime
FF7: Advent Children - *dragged kicking and screaming into the world of Cloud, Sephiroth and Zack. All the too-bloody-fast-to-see-action aside, I like how they did the Aeris and Zack visit. And Vincent's humour is a gem!

Loveless Extras - arrghhh! All da angst from the series get washed down the drain by some Guu-Kodocha mix of omake dialogue. And what's up with Soubi's ultra-corny long face? Eeek!

Trinity Blood - finally, the series is making up for the male character majority by bringing in kickass female characters - Ast-san for one and Paula from the Inquisition. Eh, and Catherine is way up there. Also more interesting now with more Esther and bad guys. Radu and Ion are a little ummmm....but they look very very good while doing so, so that's great!

Movies
Watched the Legend of Zorro and Sky High - both are quite entertaining an funny. Was having fits over Steven Strait's character - Warren Peace - and his dry sense of humour....no, no, throwing flames has nothing to do with his hot-factor...but the last bit with Ice Girl was cool. *snerk* I can see the relationship dynamics so well, if I was a fanfic writer....in Zorro, my fav character is Joaquin!

Dreams
Have been have quite weird ones....let's see, there's a 'mare of plant-thing, with a face from that scarecrow horror movie. There's one with lots of landscapes. One or two work ones (ahhh~! run!) and one wiggy one where I was in a group of trouble-makers (ages 10 - 40) and we were in the middle of a wide stream, dropping muffins and cupcakes into it until which someone reminded us it could draw scary stuff. En masse, we made a dash up the shore but when we heard birds flocking to the stream, like true mischiefs, we veered back to indulge in our curiosity. When a senior trouble-maker then asked me where I was studying, my dream-mind informed that I was studying in Taiwan to a tuition fee of $17,000 a year. Wah.

Am quite weighed down by work as am feeling stretched in two-ways at once. Also falling to the worry-bug again - if I get to fifty, my first wart will be a worry-wart.
